The standard Game Pass for Xbox and Game Pass for PC aren’t comparable products in terms of price. Then we’re comparing PS Plus Extra and Premium with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Given the pricing tiers, we’re stacking PS Plus Essential up against Xbox Live Gold, as base level subscriptions that continue to offer the same value as previously. So let’s look at the different options and tiers, and how they compare. Many industry watchers (ourselves included) are seeing this as a fresh attempt to counteract Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, and it’s certainly true that Sony are consolidating their services in a way that should be easier and more attractive for end users. While waiting to learn more about Spartacus, be sure to check out the December PlayStation Plus lineup.Sony has announced a complete overhaul for PlayStation Plus, combining the old PS Plus with their game subscription service PS Now into a single product, starting in June 2022. One important thing to note is that Bloomberg says the documentation it reviewed revealed that details on the service have yet to be finalized so there’s a chance things could change between now and its supposed Spring release. Sony reportedly plans to keep Plus’ branding around after the new service is out, but Now will be phased out. The third tier would include the services of the first two tiers and access to “extended game demos, game streaming, and a library of classic PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP games,” Bloomberg writes.īloomberg’s report points towards Spartacus releasing in Spring, which is also when PlayStation Plus and Now will be merged. The second tier will open players up to a larger library of PlayStation 4 games and eventually PlayStation 5 games. The subscription will be spread across three different tiers and Bloomberg’s report says the first (and cheapest) tier will basically be what players get with PlayStation Plus at the moment.
